1. Is it a standard to use epoxy primer in USA? No wash primer?

That is not correct. Many Technician prefer to use wash primer instead of epoxy primer.
Here is how I answered the question: Yes, many techs use wash primer. This is just a preference. Both provide good adhesion and corrosion protection. However, many times we are spraying over different substrates. Metal, body filler, primer, paint, etc. In this case you must be careful with some of the wash primers, as it may lift an edge. Epoxy can be sprayed over about anything with no problems. So I think epoxy is a little more user friendly. But both can be used.
