I’m sure you heard the song Mustang Sally. Well, my wife and I had just watched a new movie, PS I Love You, which had that song in it. Oddly enough, we located and bought a Mustang the next day. This was not intended, but a spur of the moment deal. In fact, we don’t have the money to rebuild this car. It will be a paycheck by paycheck, little by little build. However, we convinced ourselves that we must have it. So we did the traditional “All American Way” of doing things and went into debt to make it happen. But hey, we now own a Mustang.
I have always been a Camaro man and my wife has always loved Mustangs. Therefore, she has already expressed ownership in this car. My twin boys are now 11 and I have always told them that we will build a car together for their first car, so they have already claimed the car as well. Of course, I claim it as my own too, as I love most old muscle cars. We all have a piece of ownership, but in our own way we all think that we have a little bigger piece than the other. However, after all of the hours of labor we will all put into the car, I believe we will share and have a greater appreciation for the car and each other when completed.
The boys will get to drive the Mustang some, but I really want them to have a car with some of the modern day safety feature, like airbags, for their first car. Some type of tracking system would be nice too…you know, where I can see where they’re at, at all times. I’m sure glad that they did not have some of these devises and cell phones when I was a teen.
Anyway, I will be telling you more about this car in future blogs. I’m am going to blog about each step I take. As mentioned, I may have to fabricate some of the parts that should be replaced, due to my “0” budget. I may not have the money to produce a show quality car with a high performance V-8 and all of the extras like you see of TV, but it will be a nice car that will allow you to enjoy a Sunday cruise when completed.
