Color Sand and Polish Auto Body Paint Finish… by NetworkAutoBody
In this video, Network Auto Body discusses the problem of getting dirt in paint jobs being sprayed in auto body shops. He mentions that insurance should pay for this as it is impossible to have the vehicle as clean as it was when being sprayed from the factory. Therefore, dirt is going to get in the paint, and you will need to cut and polish the vehicle. He also mentions that dirt is a dead give-away that the vehicle has been repainted. This may affect the trade-in value.

Watch the video and let me know what you think. I know most shops buff dirt out, but have you been able to have insurance pay for that? If so, do you have any advice for other shops when they are trying to have insurance to pay for this task?

ABRN HOW2 – Auto Detailing Tips

April 5, 2011 by Butler--BCRN 1 Comment

Have you ever finished buffing a car and had a difficult time getting all of the compounds and polishes of moldings and in the cracks. Or perhaps you are working on a car that has years of wax build up from the owner waxing the car, but not cleaning in the cracks when done. This can be a very difficult job to clean and have the moldings looking new again.

One way to eliminate the amount of compounds and polishes from getting in unwanted areas is to mask if off. For example, applying masking tape over the body gaps and around moldings. However, compound still tends to find its way to some of the unwanted areas. For whatever reason compounds or there, we need a way to clean it.

We discovered that a cheap detail brush, as in the video, does an excellent job. The brush and a little soap and water will have the moldings and crack clean with a little effort.

Once clean, you can use a little dressing to give molding a brand new look. However, if you do not clean the moldings before applying the dressing, it will not look good for long. The dry chalking look will reappear.

This is just a simple tip, but very effective.

If you liked this tip, be sure to give it a thumbs up. You can also be a resource by sharing this how-to tutorial with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.
