Students Learn How To Repair and Paint A Corvette

February 3, 2012 by admin Leave a Comment

The students did an outstanding job on this corvette. After watching the video, you will hear how excited the auto body repair instructor is and how proud he is of the students that painted the car. I can relate with him, I still remember the first car that I painted in high school and how it felt to step back and see the end results. It still excites me to step back and see something I sprayed that turned out good. However, not all of mine turn out as I hoped and that can be very discouraging as well.

As the instructor in the video, I get excited when a student’s paint job turn out good too. After all of these years, I still get the rush from seeing the finished project.

Watch this video and you will hear the pride this instructor has for his students.

Kudos to the collision repair students and instructor at Colonial High School in Orlando, Florida.  They made some SMC (sheet molded compound) repairs to the vette body, stripped the old paint finish and repainted the car complete.  You can see from the video they did an outstanding job.  The corvette looks absolutley great and they all deserve a thumbs up for their effort.

Here is another NATEF accredited Collision Repair program located in Chillicothe, MO.  I also found a YouTube video of students from the school demonstrating jeweling a t-bucket fan shroud.  It is obvious from the video that the students are interested and engaged at this school.

If you live in this area, it may be worth your time to add this program to your list of schools to consider.

The program is NATEF accredited in collision repair at the secondary (high school) and post secondary (college) levels.

Conway, Arkansas High School Auto Body Program Discusses Career Opportunities

December 17, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

This is a video of Conway High School’s Auto Body program.  I did not verify if they are a NATEF accredited school, but they do help students explore the career opportunities in the collision repair industry.  This is a great opportunity for students to explore and determine what this career offers.  I commend this program, as the collision repair industry needs more exposure.  More programs need to speak up and let the educational system know what we do and how it leads to successful careers.  We all know that every student is not a fit for a four year university degree, so we need to do a better job of helping these students find a career that they can be successful in.  We  need to convey that there are successful technical careers, such as welding, auto tech, and collision repair for them to pursue.  The idea that every student is going to pursue a university is unrealistic.  Technical education impacts the society we live in as much as academic education.  So let’s hear a big KUDOS for programs like this that help educate people what we are about.

Let’s give them a big shout out by liking and sharing with others.  Support technical education by tweeting or posting this on your Facebook! 🙂

On CBS News, High School Student Opens Auto Body Shop…Now Annual Revenue Of More Than $10 million.

This is a great success story about a high school student that had a dream, opened a collision repair business and persevered to become a multi-millionaire.

We hear a lot of negative news and there will alway be people that will try to crush our hope and give us 100’s of reasons why our plan will fail.  However, for people like Shawn Moody, they focus on what can be done, not what can’t be done.
Moody’s business, Moody’s Collision Centers, that he started when he was still in high school now has 75 employees at five locations and annual revenue ten million dollars.  READ FULL ARTICLE
I read this article and thought it was a good example of the sky is the limit.  Whether you become this successful or not, don’t ever let other people crush your dreams.

Nashoba Valley Technical High School – Going Green

July 31, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Kudos To Nashoba Valley Technical High School

Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Wesford, MA is doing its part to be a more environmental friendly school.  The collision repair program has switched to waterborne paint.  This reduces the amount of VOC’s released into the atmosphere and provides a safer environment for the students to work in.

To read more about how this school is going green in their auto body program, read the full article via Nashoba Valley Technical High School – News.
