Auto Detailing Tips – Removing Compounds, Polishes, Wax From Molding and Cracks on Cars
ABRN HOW2 – Auto Detailing Tips
Have you ever finished buffing a car and had a difficult time getting all of the compounds and polishes of moldings and in the cracks. Or perhaps you are working on a car that has years of wax build up from the owner waxing the car, but not cleaning in the cracks when done. This can be a very difficult job to clean and have the moldings looking new again.
One way to eliminate the amount of compounds and polishes from getting in unwanted areas is to mask if off. For example, applying masking tape over the body gaps and around moldings. However, compound still tends to find its way to some of the unwanted areas. For whatever reason compounds or there, we need a way to clean it.
We discovered that a cheap detail brush, as in the video, does an excellent job. The brush and a little soap and water will have the moldings and crack clean with a little effort.
Once clean, you can use a little dressing to give molding a brand new look. However, if you do not clean the moldings before applying the dressing, it will not look good for long. The dry chalking look will reappear.
This is just a simple tip, but very effective.
