If custom cars are your passion, you can turn that hobby into a profession by taking theMotorsports Chassis Fabrication specialty program at WyoTech in Sacramento, Calif. This specialty program can give you hands-on training in the fundamentals of metalworking, metal finishing, welding, frame design and other construction essentials. Courses are taught by industry professionals who are experts in the automotive field.
The Motorsports Chassis Fabrication specialty program is offered as part of WyoTech’sCollision/Refinishing Technology program, a career education program designed for automotive enthusiasts who want to go pro. When you take this specialty program, you will get hands-on experience in:
- Measuring
- Pattern and outline development
- Mechanical drawing and reading
- Attachment methods
- Metal cutting and finishing
- MIG and TIG welding
- Frame design and modifications
- Roll cage construction
- Complete tube chassis fabrication
Skills you will learn from the Collision/Refinishing Technology “core” curriculum include:
- MIG welding
- Mechanical systems related to collision repair
- Steel and aluminum panel repair techniques
- Structural measuring and repair
- Replacing bolted and welded panels
- And more!
You will also learn the fundamentals of refinishing, including:
- Surface preparation and masking
- Spray gun operation
- Detailing
- Spot repair
- Plastic repair

Upon graduation, WyoTech’s Career Services department can help you leverage your newly acquired skills to compete for entry-level positions with dealerships, auto shops and repair facilities in your area.
