You don’t have to change who you are to like cars, Becky Sue Huff says in this interview. Becky would like to send a message to other females out there that you can be a girly girl who likes cars.
Becky Sue said there are some females who are afraid to pursue a career in automotive and related industries because they may feel that they have to play the part of being one of the guys. She says stay true to who you are and to follow what you are passionate about. If you’re a girly girl who likes to work on cars, then that is who you are, a girl who likes cars; there is nothing wrong with that.
Becky Sue has also helped expose the automotive industry to females by teaching auto skills at an all girls summer camp. Becky said, I wish that I would have known about the career pathways that automotive offers when I was younger.
In this interview, Becky tells us how she became interested in cars and about her automotive journey and her love for cars. Her dad was a mechanic and she watched him work on cars, but he did most of the work, as she was the tool chaser. She became involved with working on cars herself with the help of her boyfriend, now fiancé, as he is a part owner of a well known restoration shop, http://DepartmentOfCustomz.com
Matthew Means, this is Becky’s fiancé, along with 3rd generation body man, Tom Prewitt are partners in the restoration shop. Matthew is a metal fabricator and Tom is a painter. As mentioned, Tom comes from a long line of body man and has done much of the painting for Jesse James on the television show, Monster Garage. Tom’s dad was close friends with Big Daddy Roth.
Becky and Matthew restored a car that Matthew got for her and Becky has been hooked every since. She later started her own car club, Gasoline Girls, which is a car club for all females. However, Becky recently resigned from the club to pursue other avenues in the automotive world.
Currently Becky works in land management, but plans to follow her true passion in the automotive industry. However, she is working with several companies, such as Chicago Pneumatic Tools to help promote the company through social media. She plans to attract more companies.
Becky would like to work as an automotive television host. She is a fan of Courtney Hansen and would love to follow in her footsteps as a host. Becky was contacted to audition for a new automotive show, but she did not get the job. However, she has a positive attitude and felt honored to be asked to audition and the opportunity to get her name out to the Discover Channel network and believes this has opend doors for her in the future.
