My cousin started racing in a relativity new class called the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown. The name may mislead you because these cars are not stock. They are 7-second cars producing up to 1500 HP.
But the difference between these cars and other race cars is that they still have factory sheet metal, glass, etc., not just a lightweight shell like funny cars or tubing like a dragster. The widest tire they can run in the back is 9 inches.
I don’t know a lot about this class or any NHRA racing, but they came to Heartland Nationals in Topeka, Kansas, which is only about 1 1/2 hour away from me. I went to watch the race and had a great time. I took a few video clips to share with you. My cousin Randy is in the car on the right on the first video clip.
