GAAS Scholarships
GAAS scholarships are open to full time students attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university or an ASE/NATEF certified postsecondary Automotive, Collision, HD, or Alternate Fuel program. Graduating high school students are welcome to apply, too.
.
In addition, about 20 other donors and organizations collaborate with GAAS and make additional scholarship awards. Some of these, like the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota, the Association of Diesel Specialists, Mitchell1, and the Women’s Board offer scholarships specifically for technician students.
.
We anticipate we will be able to make more than 100 awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 again in 2013.
In 15+ years, GAAS has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships and more than $1.6 million to students planning careers in the automotive aftermarket. In 2012 GAAS awarded 97 scholarships from $1,000-$2,500 in the US and 7 in Canada. Most of our recipients are training to become technicians in mechanical, collision, or heavy duty areas. And, once a student submits a complete application (including an essay, school transcripts, and at least one reference letter), their application is reviewed by GAAS and every organization where they meet the qualifications. In 2012, 25 students received multiple awards from their one application.
