In the last Mustang video, we welded the outer wheelhouse onto the car. Now we are ready to prime any bare metal, seam seal our adjoining parts, and prep the wheelhouse for undercoating.
First we sanded everything to assure it was ready to spray coatings. Once scuffed, we sprayed the bare metal using self etch primer followed by primer. Once the primer was dry, we applied seam sealer to all of the adjoining parts and weld locations to prevent moisture from getting underneath the parts and causing rust.
Then we applied an undercoating. We decided to use a spray can bed liner to see how that works. It sprayed on well and appeared to do a good job.
Next, we’ll be installing the quarter panel. We are going to use a combination of panel bond adhesive and welds.
