In this video you will meet some of the people I met and places I visited at SEMA 2011 in Las Vegas. You will also learn about a few of the people and products that I will be blogging about or making new videos. I have a lot more to share with you about SEMA as I find time. Be looking for more videos over the next month or two as I will be writing, interviewing people, researching products, and creating posts or videos.
People
This video is an overview of some of the people that I saw at SEMA. As mentioned in the video, I was excited to meet Jessi Combs, as this was my first time to meet her. It is always exciting to see other icons or celebrities in this industry, such as Chip Foose, Rich Evans, Troy Trepainer, Charley Hutton, etc. However, I have already met them at previous shows.
Other celebrities at the show included: Stacey David and Kevin Tetz. I read that Courtney Hanson was supposed to be there, but I never did see her. Anyway, if you enjoy meeting some of the car folks you watch on TV, then SEMA is a place you want to put on your to do list for next year. There were many other icons in the automotive industry there I did not mention, but you can probably visit the SEMA website to learn who all was there if you would like to know.
Places
I mentioned several of the places I visited while at SEMA this year. I would like to mention a few of them as they are supporters of the contest we have here on Collision Blast and supporters of education.
3M
3M had an awesome booth set up this year at SEMA. The booth was interactive with demonstrations. Not only were they showing how to do things, they were also getting the audience involved. For example, they were asking people to help install the vinyl wraps. As an educator, I believe this is the best way to get people involved and truly learn how to do something. You can watch something all day long, but until you get in there and do it, you are not really going to have the full concept.
3M also is a big contributor to collision repair programs and to our contest and giveaways here on Collision Blast. So a big thanks and kudos to 3M!
Motor Guard
Motor Guard is another big contributor to our giveaways and contests on Collision Blast and to education. Dave at Motor Guard also provides me with new products to try in an educational environment to test. I believe this is a great way for companies to get feedback on their new products. Students tell things for what it is. What I mean is, thAT many of students do not have strong beliefs or tunnel vision on how to perform something. If something works well, they see the benefit instantly without the “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” syndrome.
Motor Guard has a new adapter that will attach to any stud welder gun for repairing plastic I saw at SEMA. There is a small clip of this tool in the video. However, Dave is going to send me one for us to try out. We are going to put it to the test and I will make another video with the results. From what I have seen already, I believe it is going to be a great time saver and work great for plastic repair.
More to come in this post
I am going to be updating this post as I get time. So check back for more information about the people and places I visited at SEMA 2011.
