Revved Up About Learning
Local 2 News (KPRC-TV) highlights San Jacinto College Auto Collision Repair Program in Houston, Texas. The video expressed how the students are pumped to learn this skill. There will always be auto accidents, which is job security for the collision repair industry.
High Demand
Not only are accidents a factor for the demand in the industry, but finding qualified technicians to replace the current generation of technicians is a concern too. The video reports that the average technician is 55 years old. This is resulting in many technicians leaving the industry, which is creating a shortage of technicians.

November 8, 2010 at 2:10 pmi think this article is a great motivation for me. The fact that so many are leaving the industry gets me excited due to the fact I should be able to find a job rather easily. My goal is start my own body shop but i want to work for someone else for several years before I do. I also like how they talked about job security, i mean it was clearly stated… people will always get in accidents. And you can’t control nature from beating the heck out of potential customer’s cars.

November 8, 2010 at 2:13 pmthis was a very interesting video. i think it is cool that that girls father taught her since she was a little girl how to do body work. that enabled her to have skills for work that noone can take from her. i love it when someone opens a new shop straight out of school. me and a buddy have plans to open a shop in the near future so its nice to hear encouraging stories

November 18, 2010 at 6:27 pmI think this kind of publicity is a great thing for programs like the one here at Butler Community College. These programs will teach you the basic skills necesary to survive in this feild but will also give you a good idea of what your getting in too.
