The final day of our Daytona Bike Week 2010 coverage was jam-packed with action! In the Championship rounds of the 20th Annual WyoTech Brute Horsepower Shootout, we saw some awesome numbers, especially in the Unlimited Import class. Julio Shaheen was this year’s ultimate champion; he pumped out 569.69 HP on his 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa. His previous best had only been in the 480s! Last year’s heavy hitter, Todd Erickson, had been putting up big numbers all week in Qualifications. In the Championship round, Erickson decided to pull out all the stops and shoot for an unprecedented 700 HP! He prepped his 1994 Kawasaki ZX-11 with 2-stage nitrous oxide and throttled it hard. Unfortunately, he threw a rod and his engine completely blew at 517 HP! Luckily, no one got hurt and we’re sure Erickson will be back next year for revenge.
