I had planned to attend a few of the events scheduled for the 2008 Prairie Port weekend held in El Dorado; however, the rain prevented me from do so. The Miss Prairie Port Beauty Pageant wasn’t rained-out, although I didn’t make it to that event. I did learn that Melissa Wathlers was crowned 2008 Miss Prairie Port. I was also told that Melissa is the sister to Michelle Walthers, which was 2006 Miss Kansas.
Friday night I attended the Jeff Bates concert, but it was rained-out, which was disappointing. Well, I didn’t confirm it was rained-out, but I was not going to stand around in a lighting storm to find out. Same thing happened Saturday night when I tried to attend a street dance. Once again, I did not hang around to confirm if they had it or not.
In spite of the rain, the parade was successful Saturday morning. I got to see quite a few cool rides cruising down central street in El Dorado.

Some disappointments are out of our control like the weather. However, we can control some of our disappointments before they happen. For example, getting enrolled in a college program that will reflect your entire career. I believe it would be very disappointing to discover that you have to put your life on hold for another year because you did not act fast enough. The Collision Repair program only has (2) seats open for the fall semester. Once filled, you will have to wait another year before enrolling. Enroll today to secure your future and get on the right track to a successful career. Visit our website at www.Butlercc.edu to find the career your passionate about and take control of your future.
